A NEW PLEASANT NANCE LINE THEORY {updated 12/22/2021} #4

This is my NEW theory and I believe it to be the best so far.

Notes from: Nance Register a Book Of Genealogy by: Martin L. "Pete" Nance copyright 1966 Gen PE VII -

Pleasant NANCE section contributed by Robert B. NANCE (My great uncle) "I believe but cannot prove, that Pleasant was a brother of Harden NANCE, q. v. The two lived very close to each other, and Pleasant named one of his sons Harden. My guess to Pleasant's father would be John, as he named one son John Allen NANCE, The John for his own father and the Allen for his wife's father, Allen BARKER. Then Pleasant's son Elkanah, named a child John Pleasant, which could be for his grandfather and father.

By using Roberts deductions of Pleasant's father I have as a possibility... posted and highlighted below....

Going on this same info. above, I now believe Harden NANCE b. 1798 {who marries Mary B. (MNU)} to be an uncle, not brother, to Pleasant NANCE b. 1814, Pleasant NANCEs father (John? as Robert B. Nance believes) being a son of John NANCE and a Mary/Molly MNU (COX?). {MNU=Maiden name unknown}.

David NANCE and Hardin NANCE list themselves as b. in VA.
Frederick NANCE
b. abt 1783 {who marr. Mary "Polly" BERRY} and William Franklin NANCE b. abt 1781 {who marries Nancy LOWE and Elizabeth DUNAWAY} show themselves b. in NC.
I believe them all to be sons of the same father, John NANCE moving from Rockingham Co. NC to Henry Co. VA abt 1785.
John NANCE is not listed in the 1790 Rockingham Co. NC census.
Then
John NANCE moves back to Rockingham County, NC by 1800.

This group of NANCE may now look like this?:

(**I thought it possible that Elizabeth, Pleasant's mother may have been a NANCE, and gave Pleasant the last name NANCE, her being the daughter of Reuben NANCE (1745-1812) of Henry Co. VA
BUT NONE of our DNA matches who descend from Pleasant is a DNA match to those descending from Reuben NANCE)

Here's a few NANCE records prior to 1790, in Henry Co. VA and Rockingham Co. NC who may be connected:
I haven't figured out the connection to these to the rest of the NANCEs later on in Rockingham Co. NC

The above John NANCEs in Henry Co. VA, could either be the John NANCE, wife Mary "Mollie" (M.N.U.) in Rockingham Co. NC or the John NANCE, wife Mary (EPPES?) who moved to Jefferson County, Tennessee, both by 1800.

Here's tracing our line of NANCE through census starting with 1800:

John NANCE's (b. abt.1760) son John NANCE ( b. abt 1780) is missing from the 1810 Rockingham County NC census. Could he have possibly went to Henry County VA and married Elizabeth (M.N.U.) and was there through at least 1814 when Pleasant NANCE was born? Unfortunately the 1810 Henry County VA census is missing from the microfilm rolls to prove this theory. {UPDATE 9/2/2021} Only NANCE listed on the 1810 Henry Co. VA tax list is Isham NANCE and Reuben NANCE.. It's possible John moved his family after Pleasant NANCE was born back to Rockingham County NC and John NANCE died before 1820? OR Pleasant wasn't born in Virginia?
(9/2/2021 update have located the 1810-1815 Henry Co. VA tax list No John is listed leaving me to believe they were not in Henry Co. VA, but Rockingham Co. NC when Pleasant was born,
also Pleasant's father (John?) may have been in the War of 1812 (18 Jun 1812 – 16 Feb 1815) having died during it, leaving wife Elizabeth with 1 son, Pleasant, Elizabeth can be found in 1820 (below) with a male under 10 (Pleasant would be 6).

Sometime between 1820/1830 {can't find in 1830 census} and 1836 Pleasant NANCE and his mother Elizabeth "Betsy" NANCE moved to Henry County VA or are still in Rockingham County NC?
Elizabeth NANCE
is not a head of household in the 1830 Rockingham Co. NC or 1830 Henry Co. VA census. They could be living with another family. (I am working on census for both counties)
Harden NANCE
and David NANCE with wives are still in Rockingham Co. NC. Mary/Molly NANCE has died? Frederick NANCE and his family move to Henry County, TN by 1830.

In Harden NANCE's death record it is shown that his mother was named Mollie. Mollie being another name for Mary.

Henry County Virginia Death Register: Harden NANCE, White, Male, 5/28/1876, Henry County, VA, 75 years old Parent: Mollie, Born: NC, consort Mary B., informant Mrs. Watson, daughter.

Find a Grave Memorial 49635278 for Harden NANCE (1796-1856) incorrectly states parents
They ARE NOT Hudson NANCE and Elizabeth HUBBARD!!!
SOURCE The census showing Harden following David NANCE, and
Harden's death record showing mother as MOLLIE not Elizabeth!!

DNA testing of these NANCE's lines would sure help a lot to determine if my theory is correct.
See outline descendant report for where these are in tree (update 10/30/2021)
These NANCE have someone who DNA tested and matches one of us {4} who tested in my lines and descending from one of the above mentioned NANCE
1) 14 DNA matches descend from Pleasant NANCE

2) 3 DNA matches descends from Martha NANCE (with James? Cochran) had a son James (Clement?) Nance out of wedlock (yDNA proved this)
3) 1 DNA match descends from David NANCE
4) 1 DNA match descends from Clemmons "Clement" NANCE
5) 2 DNA matches descends from Sucricia NANCE
6) 4 DNA matches descends from Harden NANCE
