In their household was a young man named William Harman, age 20. Sandy also reports that Lucy Ann Nance, b. 1816 possibly KY or TN, married a William Davis, son of John T. Davis, a preacher, and they settled in Bond County IL, and that she may have been a brother of Barrick (or Barreck) as he is listed near them on census records.Per Glen Bond <gbond@inquo.net> Barrick Nance married Charity Myers 5 Nov 1849. William Harman age 20 was a boarder or hired man.

Nance born in 1824 on the banks of Big Sandy River in KY. The family rem. to Illinois when George W. was young. In 1846, he enlisted in Capt. A. D Wright's company of infantry, and went to the Mexican War. He was at the battles of Vera Cruz and Cerro Gordo, and received a sun-stroke at one of the above. In 1850 or 1851 he went to Texas, where he lived seven years. His wife was Mary H. Shasted, born in Illinois April 13, 1831, who he married after the Mexican War. Their son FRANK Nance was born in Dallas Co TX on June 23, 1854. Other children included REBECCA, (m. J. J. Morris), BYRD, ELLEN (m. John Atchley), SCOTT, and STAMPER. George W. and family rem. to Madison Co AR in 1857 or 1858, then rem. to Illinois in 1863, then returned to Madison Co AR in 1869, then rem. to Greene Co MO in 1873, then returned to Madison Co AR in about 1874, and then "after moving around for some time he finally settled in IL (apparently Menard Co) where he was living as of 1889. He was a farmer and carpenter, also a good mechanic, and able to make almost anything out of wood.
