FUNERAL SERVICE OF REV. CHARLES SUMNER SANDERS
Rev. C. S. Sanders, of the Pittsburgh Conference, whose critical illne
ss was announced in last week's Recorder, passed away on Tuesday mornin
g, November 3, and the funeral service in the home, at 110 Locust Stree
t. Etna, was held on Thursday evening, November 5, and a final servi
ce in the old home church at Bakerstown. We pay editorial tribute to th
is highly gifted minister elsewhere in these pages; but the best tribu
te a departing preacher of the Word can receive was heartily given h
im in the united testimony of his fellow-ministers at the funeral service,
and in the many tokens of friendship and love from those to whom he h
ad so faithfully ministered.

The singing was a most impressive feature of the service. Dr. J. W. Hawle
y, ailng: "One Sweetly Solemn Thought.".. And the, Fox Chapel choir, who
se voices had so often joined with his in the solemnities of the sanctuar
y, sang at the home "Wonderful Peace", and "Nearer, Still Nearer"; a
nd at the church the following: "Lead Kindly Light," "Sometime We'll Under
stand" 'The Touch of His Hand on Mine" and "No Night There." The choir inc
luded Mrs. Charles E. Baer, pianist; Mrs. W. J. Teats, Miss Hazel Meredi
th, Mrs. W. W. Campbell, Mrs. Jean M. Bricker, Mr. M. D. Hanlon, M
r. W. W. Campbell and Mr. M. C. Meredith.
